The rumors were right. Sony today confirmed that a Little Big Planet kart racing game titled Little Big Planet Karting is in development.

Little Big Planet Karting is in development, but that’s all we know for sure.

The news stems from the official PlayStation Twitter account, which wrote earlier today, “We can confirm that LittleBigPlanet Karting is in fact in development.”

This week’s speculation pointed to Little Big Planet Karting being released for the PlayStation 3 with 3D support, but Sony did not confirm those elements.

Additionally, no mention was made as to which studio will develop the game or when it will be released, though Sony said gamers can expect more news “soon.”

The next Little Big Planet game due out is Little Big Planet for the PlayStation Vita, which does not yet have a release date.
