Owned Gamers look at 2011, the best, the worst and the others
The year 2011 has come to an end and with it comes the top 10 lists from around the gaming community, well I cannot make a top 10 due to the fact that I do not play all the games that are launched. If that would be the case it means that I am making a living out of this and that I am a very happy dude. This means that what I can offer as an end of year evaluation is what I think was the game that lived up to its expectation, the worst and those that I did not play but really wanted to.
The Best Game for 2011
The game that for me lived to its expectations in 2011 has to be Battlefield 3. As I said above this is my opinion based on games that I play. Battlefield 3 was launched in the forth quarter of 2011 and the hype on the game was par with other top first person shooters. After the beta, (which honestly I think the beta hurt a bit the game due to some major glitches) the game gave fps gamers something that they can consider as new and improved. With realistic graphics, new maps and a brand new game engine, battlefield 3 gave gamers the experience they were waiting to get out of a game.
The Worst Game of 2011
Although I did not play the game, and for obvious reasons the worst game of 2011 has to be Duke Nukem Forever. First of all a game that takes around 15 years to be developed, and you are told that the game should be judged as if it was launched 10 years ago, that is never a good sign. As it was said in ‘The Jimquisition‘, if you pay the full price for a game in 2011, if the game is launched in 2011, the game should perform as a game in 2011. From reviews of the game and videos online all I could say about the game is that, who was behind the game has some really dark fantasies and that for 15 years development you expect something that even Avatar will cover in fear, not something that looks like it came straight out of a failed school project.
The Other Games
This section is dedicated to those games that are not the best nor the worst but fall under the other misc categories.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3
The game that made gamers angry, fan boys happy and the other gamers confused. Fan boys were happy they got a new release, gamers were angry because they paid for something they’ve seen already and there was a small portion of casual gamers that in all the youtube videos asked the same question “Is this Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2?”
My honest opinion? Thank god for battlefield 3, reason being is that although I enjoy the times I login in MW3 and play some games, Infinity Ward disappointed me with the lack of upgrades to the game. No need to add more if you are going to release a game in one year after your other release and make gamers pay the full price for a brand new game, give gamers something more than a DLC for your old title.
Team Fortress 2
Team Fortress 2 made headlines in 2011 because it entered the F2P (free to play) arena, being one of the top first person shooters of 2007. This game managed to made headlines four years later and four years later it is still one of the most played games.

To sum it up 2011 was a great year for gaming in general because gamers had a lot of major releases. Even if you look at a lot of gaming events throughout the year, some of these events hit record attendance and viewers example MLG. Let see what will 2012 hold for gamers.
