Leir_Bag I second that notion. A VERY good example is John Carpenter’s “The Thing”, one of the most iconic, and debatably the most ground breaking horror film to date. JC was a HUGE fan of the 1951 Cult Classic “The Thing From Another World”, which in itself was a cheesy, but very well made B-Movie, with it’s 1982 remake almost being NOTHING like it, but still true to the formula.
If the same can be said about this director, than we have no issue, as he might take care of the license with great care. Chronicle was a VERY good movie, with it’s only problem (Keeping it from being a masterpiece) being the stupid “Found Footage” style of cinematography. Also, “The Scorpion King and its sequels,” and “Mirror Mirror”, are AWFUL movies, but “Public Enemies” was a spectacular film. He shows his creativity as a good director, and a decent producer. Now, if he can prove himself with a SOTC movie actually being “GOOD”, maybe there’s hope for other Video Game Title movies. So far the “best” VG movie is Prince of Persia… :/
