Visceral Games scouting multiplayer lead for ‘bold new franchise’

In March, a job listing at Electronic Arts’ Visceral Games studio proclaimed the developer was at work on a “bold new IP.” Now, it appears the mystery franchise not only remains in development, but it will also be a significant component of EA’s business moving forward.

A new job listing at EA (via OXM) indicates that the publisher is looking for a lead multiplayer designer for a “bold new franchise.” According to the listing, the title will be an online action shooter, and the ideal candidate will have “architectural knowledge and experience making realistic world levels.”

Additionally, it appears EA has a fair amount of faith in its new franchise, as the publisher also said this series will be the “cornerstone” of a new EA Games studio. This studio was not named.

In November, the rumor mill churned out speculation that EA was cooking up various Dead Space spin-offs in an array of genres. These possibilities included Dead Space flight-combat, first-person shooter and action adventure games.

As of press time, EA had not responded to GameSpot’s request for comment on the matter.
